Company Profile: Walls End Collery was an underground longwall coal mine owned by Glencore and was close in 2015.
I was contracted through Elton Longwall to provide a Design of a coal transfers which was manufactured in China and installed in the Walls End Longwall.
I felt proud to be able to complete the design from start to finish this included everything from calculating and modeling coal particle trajectories. Then creating a 3-D solid model of a bolted - fabricated structure to support a low head height transfer.
I recall on this project I really felt there was no one around to ask questions or I was the principal engineer on this project. It was my time to stand up and ensure the design would meet the requirements of the agreed design scope.
