I was contracted to design a direct drive unit for a longwall underground mine initially I was the only design engineer working on the project. At the end of my contract, we had 3 design drafters creating detail drawings from my 3-D models.
It felt like a good team and even today I stay in contact with some of the detail drafters who have also moved on to bigger projects.
Personally, I developed a greater understanding of team management, mentoring younger or junior engineers challenging them and there though processes to ensure we provided enough manufacturing information for seamless manufacturing and fabrication.
